Radiator Cooling Fan Noise

I have a Punto Mk2 and recently it began making an intermittent noise, I have noted when this happens and discovered it is when the electric cooling fan is working. I assume it is dry bearings and wondered if there is anything I can do to lubricate them or failing that where is the best place to purchase a replacement part?

Thanks

Re: Radiator Cooling Fan Noise

can get a replacement fan from www.shop4parts.co.uk

To lubricate it try good old WD40 or some spray white grease

Re: Radiator Cooling Fan Noise

Thanks Mdeko I was a bit worried about the WD40 because I have heard it dries out the bearings and may be good in the short term but cause more problems later - any thoughts/guide - also what is white grease and where would I get it? Cheers

Re: Radiator Cooling Fan Noise

I got a can of white spray grease from maplins. WD40 is a short term solution, white grease will last longer.

Re: Radiator Cooling Fan Noise

I'd get a new rad fan asap.

My rad fan started making a funny noise a while ago, then today it just stopped working all together. Luckily I have a temp gauge, so when I saw it rise to 3/4 I just stopped, switched the engine off and let it cool.

If it does totally pack in and you end up overheating.. it'll end up being a much bigger bill

Re: Radiator Cooling Fan Noise

i'm letting the garage handle it, seen as it's MOT time anyway and i can't be bothered with rotten nuts/screws/fiats.

but shop4parts will have what you are looking for - a mk1 fan was about £60.
