Rattle when I reach 40mph.

Last week I noticed a rattle everytime I change gear at 40mph in second gear to third. The noise is coming from the drivers side at the front of the car.

Does anyone know what this could be?
Is it anything to worry about?

Possibly the exhasut. I know they can rattle like hell if they've been knocked and the mounts are out/gone.

I went fishing on a river last sunday and I had to drive on a track, grass on either side and grass in the middle. (And getting my tyres extremely mucky with mud and cow-muck) I remember when coming back and hearing a scuffing noice from the bottom of the car. I got out and looked under the car and there was a peice of grass stuck underneath. (Had to get out cus I had to see what route I was going to take to avoid going in to a muddy puddle lol)

When I had my engine oil changed, Kwik-Fit said that the exhuast was going, there was a slight hole in the front pipe......They car does blow a tiny bit. I'm not going to replace it until it gets worse.

THe noise also could be the tyre trim!! ?

Could be a tyre trim, but I doubt it personally. If its rattling then its loose, and if it loose then it would probably have fallen off by now.

Have you not thought about patching up the hole on the exhaust if it's only a small one at the mo? Could save you a few quid

Yes I have thought about patching the hole up, but as I said, its not that urgent at the moment. It passed its MOT ok, so the exhaust must not be going yet.


I will have to try taking the trim off and go for a short drive and see if I hear anything then.
