mk2 sporting won't start

Right, got home last night, all fine. Went to move car after about 2 mins and nothing, turned to first click, dash lights came on, then turned to start and clicked, everything went off and the clock reset itself.

jump started off dad's car fine. Left for 5 mins with engine running. Turned it off and tried again, same thing, absolutely nothing, starter motor didn't do anything.

Charged battery overnight on the mains charger. put it in the car this morning and again, nothing.

Any ideas? or is it a case of calling out the Auto-Electrician to look at it?

How old is the battery? Could be a dead battery, what voltage do you get if you put a multimeter on it?

Also check the battery terminals are on securely, making a good connection.

Try jump starting it off another car if it doesnt start then it will be the starter thats the problem try giving it a tap on the solenoid to see if it makes a difference

it's 12.6V on a multimeter. Tried starting off dads car (as in original post...) and it started first time.

I just don't understand how the battery can die in 2 mins.

they just do, get a new one. my battery die in the punto but still work for a year after in the panda

i pay £25 from motor factors for a new one that is more powerfull than the original speedgear one, but a bit shorter so needs a bit of wood under it

took it to halfords and they did a test on it...

2 of the cells are shorting, it's putting out a grand total of 3 amps. lol

Trying to get a battery for as cheap as poss... Hal-frauds wanted £80!!!
