front shocks for mk1 punto

I need 2 new front shock absorbers for my MOT well asap cos theyre both leaking and the card awful to drive cos of roll right now just on springs lol anyhow, Im gettin standard gas shocks and going to fit them myself borrowing a spring compressor just wondering if anyone who has done this before can offer me any good tips?

I know it will need aligning after too right?? but unsure if I can do that, more likely a garage job.

not yet read the guide but im only replacing the shocks not springs too but im sure most of it will apply. plan to do it on saturday......

yay got them fitted, feels so much better to drive there was no ush in the olf shocks at all lol. only had touble with one bolt! borrowed spring compressors and finished both front ones in 3 hours. pretty good for 1st time id say :P

cheers, just need to lose some brake light tint and it should be good to go!! pre MOT check said they too dark, got a spare set in the garage just for the MOT though so should be ok im a little worried about having the dark tint in summer is you can hardly see brake lights in summer as it is....

How much were the standard shocks?

Wouldn't it have been a ideal time to go for some aftermarket shocks to suit your ride height?

thwy were £34 a peice for gas ones, i thought about that but to be honest I only want the back to match the front cos the back looks mint, the front look to be about 20-30mm highr so would only wat to drop so much on the front plus engine mods and ride height mods are the only mods Quinn direct insurance are worried about in terms of adding money to your premium so im gona wait a while before i do that the ride is lovely now though and loving te extra grip of my dezent h 15's dunno what size the tyres are but hey got a good 6mm al round left and i picked up the set of 4 with locking nuts for £56 :P fittings made for punto been on a punto so was straight easy swap from the steelies! looks ace too!! ill get some pictures whe the sun returns on a nice day and post them, alos just installed my m6 evo mirrors with the built in LED's so can smoth sid, de-lock and plan on removing the side repeaters too.... when i can afford it, body shop not far from me so need to go down for a quote :P still on the prowl for a factory gt/sporting spoiler with the built in brake light though..... missed tha last one that was on ebay £36 it went for... gutted.

I'm doing my shocks at the moment, need to know what size the bolts are at the bottom of the strut though, anyone know?

17mm nuts and 15mm bolt head if i remember correctly,

no, the near side shock has gone pop.

shocks replaced now, lowering in a few weeks hopefully!!
