W reg punto elx ..serious overfueling mostly when warm have had ecu read and no fault codes showing this has been going on now for months, jobs done so far new lamba sensor new head gasket and new water tempiture sender and after all this it still overfuels ok has a slight misfire but i put this down to to much fuel :bang: ...any more advise please

air temp sensor also how does the throttle body look is there allot of oil contamination in there as allot of monkey mechanics have a habit of bending the oil separator plate in the rocker cove in order to make them fill with oil quicker

this causers lots of oil to go up the breather hose and onto everything in the throttle body causing mayhem with your mixture

also have you tried spark plugs they should be changed every 24k

i will try the air sensor and check for oil on monday (never thought of that) but plugs are brand new but they soon turn pure black because of overfueling cheers i will let you know how i get on

also if the guy knew what he was doing with the reader even thou the light still wasnt on he whould be able to rule out a few things

for example could unplug sensors to see if the readings they were giving changed atall if not could point to wires touching in harness or sensor open circuit meaning no change when unplugged

had a look and everything looks cleanish under the airfilter just bought car and in the airintake it looks like white powder as though the engine has been stood around in a scrap yard some were ??? will ask man who code reads it for me to check again

ecu not likely

defo some sort of sensor related thing

did you get the head skimmed and how much did they take off it too much prehapse

nauty nauty t4
I had a car with that plate bent it really does destroy them

no you don't understand it's an oil separator plate it separates combustion gasses from oil

it only takes the slightest gap around this area and for the rest of the cars life wile it's running oil is blown up the tube and in the inlet manifold and tb as the 1.2 8v has positive crank case ventilation it basickly destroys them

as it happens every car i have seen with oil in the tb has had this plate bent my plate has never been bent on my current car with 78k pluss miles on and my tb is spotless

also they burn much more oil after the plate is bent

it knocks like 10mph off the top speed also

I'm just waiting for someone to do it to one of the new rocker covers with the variable cam timing in and also the oil feed for the cams goes through there too

so if someone does it will cause cam shaft wear and have oil pissing every were inside should be fun to fix

not sure were talking bout same thing here...if it is its only the slightest touch not rammed down as far as it goes with a pry bar.My car had it done(so I noticed) at first service...ran like a sweetie since(70K)but yes I know what you mean, bad practice;)

Are you sure the cambelt is timed ok?, best to check it through the hole in the bell housing for accuracy rather than the bottom pulley. These engines run several notches out but with some misfiring. Else you can check the MAP voltage at idle to see if vac is down.Else you can check if Oxy sensor is high nearly all the time.(if you have a scope)

I can only presume the guy whos doing the work has checked all what you have said ? head gasket was only changed because he said water had gas in it (after sniffing with probe) and wasnt the origional problem ,the guy whos doing the work is very profesional but this one has him beat ?????? but everytime some one mentions something i pass this information on and he then says done that or will try that so all input is of help ...thanks

work so far
1. new head casket and timing belt
2.new tempature sensor
3.new labamba sensor
3.new plugs/leads
4.all wiring checked
5.still over fuelling ,plugs turn black imediatly and engine misfires with loss of power and c/o through the roof plus exhaust fumes full of petrol

Yes, undo the 3? 10mm bolts securing the plastic cover.
Open out the cover to reveal belt.
Find the mark on the camshaft sprocket outer face, and align it with the horizontal ali casting to rear of engine and sprocket.
Get a torch and small mirror and view through aperture in top of bell housing below the battery area. The arrow on casting should align with the TDC mark.
