(T) Gringing And Scraping Noise When Clutch Released Only Stops When You Depress Clutch

I BOUGHT A PUNTO LAST WEEK 1998 4 door black, I TOOK IT TO GARAGE AND HE SAID NEED THE FIXER BUSHES ON BACK DOING COS IT WAS NOCKING AT BACK AND THE FRONT BRAKE HOSE NEEDS REPALCING AND CALIPERS RELEASING. I KNEW ABOUT ALL THAT AND THE QUOTE WAS £148 INC VAT AND LABOUR GREAT.

BUT AS YOU DO TOOK IT 2 TWO OTHER GARAGES ONE SAID THE CLUTCH IS ON THE WAY OUT ONE SAID IT COULD BE THE CLUTCH AND THE GEAR BOX. ITS A SCRAPPING GRINDING NOISE ALL THE TIME ONLY STOPS WHEN I PRESS THE CLUTCH DOWN TO CHANGE GEAR. CAN ANY ONE TELL ME IF IT IS THE CLUTCH OR BOTH THE GEAR BOX AND CLUTCH. COS IF ITS JUST THE CLUTCH I AM PREPAIRED TO HAVE THAT REPLACED BUT NOT THE GEAR BOX AS WELL

Not so long ago mine started making the same noise and progressed to also having an awful knocking noise, only stopping with the clutch pressed in. Turned out the thrust bearings had gone on the clutch and just needed replacing.
The garage I always use, Hi-Q in Southport, did me one, fitted for £100.

what £100 for a new clutch sure it was not recon

How Do Ya Top Up The Gear Box Oil / And Or Empty It And Do A Total Replacement / And Or Check Its Got Enough In Or If It Actualy Needs Topping Up
