| MK 1 front Brake pads Hi there. I have recently upgraded my front brakes to drilled and grooved. With these I got a set of pads, but they do not look the same as my old ones. Instead of the rounded edge where it slots into the housing, it is more square. I have looked on ebay, and have seen this is the most common shape when I type in "Punto brake pads" On the box of the pads I got it also says for punto 96 - 99, and i have a 97 MK1. Can anyone please advise. Thanks Werner

| Burninator of threads! | Re: MK 1 front Brake pads the ones on the right look like they came from something with bolted on pads. fairly sure the 8v late mk1's (solid discs) have sqaure'ish tabs on the end. when you get them off, give the calipers a good scraping for surface rust. and also give a smear of copper grease on th sliding channels. when you receive them it won't take you 15mins to pop a wheel and a brake caliper off to see if you have the same type, if their different though, don't try and cut them to fit, not safe (really). I have a 8th march 1998 registered car on an R plate, however the rear drums require the 1st september onwards type shoes and cylinders. don't ask me how that happened

| Re: MK 1 front Brake pads as Dave says the ones on the left require a bigger caliper to go with the larger disks as per 1.2 sporting ect. the ones on the right will fit other models 75 ect with a smaller caliper---- the smaller calipers will fit ,,as where they bolt on is the same regardless,, but the smaller calipers will not bolt on over the larger disks, (hope that makes sense ) and if you want to fit the larger disks you will need the calipers to match

| Re: MK 1 front Brake pads Well iv fitted the disc's with the old pads, and they seem to fit, although they dont work that well yet and make strange grinding noise when braking. I assume it is just because the pads are not in shape to the new discs yet. Here is a picture of the discs I have fitted. Disc Spec: Diameter : 240.5mm Bore: 59mm Height: 40mm Thickness: 11mm Mounting Holes: 4
