Re: Carbon Fibre Vinyl

fake anything is a bad idea. carbon fibre should be carbon fibre. a vinyl sticker with a carbon fibre pattern on is absolute toss.

Re: Carbon Fibre Vinyl

My dads got a signwriting company, and a few years ago we wrapped a porsche in carbon fibre vinyl for a show and it won, you really cant tell the difference if you use a high quality vinyl, something that costs over £8 a meter, but this doesnt mean to say it will look good on your bonnet.

Have to disagree there mate, even the best 'carbon fibre' vinyl is tat - it's a printed pattern on top of back or grey, thats all...

Re: Carbon Fibre Vinyl

the whole point of carbon fibre body parts is to save weight, but by adding the vinyl you'll only be increasing it (albeit marginally!) but then if you think it looks good then that's up to you, but personally i'm not a fan of the carbon fibre look. why don't they paint carbon fibre bonnets etc? it's like having a car with plastic front wings etc and leaving them unpainted.

have to disagree there mate, lol. Its screen printed onto blank vinyl at photo quality, although it is not carbon fibre, and at the end of the day never will be, from around 10ft away joe bloggs couldnt tell if it was done by a pro, ie. in a sterline environment after panel being clayed and rubbed with solvents.

Some of the printed stuff is getting really impressive now, at photo quality and when its been done properly can look pretty impressive- this is the same process that vehicles are wrapped by....

Mate, you can't 'Screen print' at photo quality because screen printing is a single colour process - Carbon fibre coloring moves in the light because of the weave whereas vinyl doesn't, I vehicle wrap quite regularly so i'm fully aware of the qualities of the vinyl!

Re: Carbon Fibre Vinyl

Not having a dig mate, but i've not seen any carbon vinyl that actually looks like carbon, same as the wood effect and all of that stuff - my opinion is if you want it to LOOK like carbon, buy carbon... I think having stuff wrapped in the carbon 'look' is a bit chav - whereas actual carbon in the right circumstances is proper bo!

BUT! I'm all up for bring proven wrong, if someone has some / wants some I will wrap a bonnet for free! would actually quite like to see it (i'm sure the carbon vinyl is cheap 3 year stuff so it most probably wouldn't last long mind)
