Interior colouring

I hate my punto lol.
i got new seat covers as i aint got much money for new seats and its just just totally clashed with the stock colour of the car. i want to no if you can either.

paint the dashboard or spray it to either black or blue with it turning out ok as mine is grey and that doesnt go with anything lol. if you can the what can i do this with? or do i have to buy a hole new dashboard? if so where from and how much?. by the way i mean the hole entire lot from passanger side to drivers.

and also can i get carpet to go ontop of my grey carpet/ paint to go over the top of it so that can be black or blue wotever. and the grey door handles inside the car is that able to change colour lol.

i would prefer the cheapest prices lol but all suggestions are welcome as im desperite. thank alot i would search my self but im really not that good looking for things lol.

Re: Interior colouring

When the weather warms up I'm gonna recarpet my MK1 in blue I think.

Just gonna take my grey carpet out, use it as a stencil to cut round onto some blue carpet and stick the blue carpet in shouldn't be too difficult.
This should work right?

Then find an ELX in a scrappy (if your lucky) and nick all four BLUE door cards and finally either get the vent surrounds from a team 60 (which are purply-blue) or respray myself

Re: Interior colouring

i removed all the interior of my car and my dash and sprayed it all black and blue looks the dogs!!! the hardest bit is puting the dash back on without scraping it its not hard to do all you need is a bit of patience and planty of time as for the folor the best way to do it is to remove the old carpet and use that like a template thats if you want it done propperly if not im sure it wouldnt be too hard to patch it up...il get some pictures of my dash posted

Re: Interior colouring

Ive put some seat covers on mine aswell and ur rite it does clash with the gray. Im not to bothered about the carpet tho cos my mats cover most of that. The door cards look bad with the seat covers so im after some ELX door cards blue ones. Mine hasn't got lecky windows tho do they do ELX door cards without lecky windows anyone know?

Re: Interior colouring

take the auxillary fusebox out of the ELX too and make your car have leccy windows And central locking too if you want it

My plan eventually is to have a 55s that is higher spec. I.e. 6 speaker stereo, electric windows, remote central locking, front fog lights, rev counter, temperature guage, 1 piece centre console etc..

Re: Interior colouring

So what does people think of blue neon lights? that seems the cheapest right now as i have to by parts to make the car run first lol. but would the neon lights, light the floor up enough to change the colour of the carpet from grey to blue?

what do u think. preferbly people how have them or have seen them just to be sure lol.

thanks again.

Re: Interior colouring

oh ok then. i HATE chaves. The only reason i got the seat covers were because the seat patterns were absolutely rubbish lol, so i had no choice. anyway i was gunna put some new carpet down as ive found some cheap carpet on ebay today.

another thing, on the doors i have plastic handles. could i spray paint them blue as im doing the doors faberic black.

and one last thing is the seat covers on the front two seats, on the back of them, the covers only covers half the seat so is there anyway of colouring them without buying new seats? its like a lethery material.

sorry for all the questions but you have ALL been really helpfull and i will try and help other people once ive experienced these things myself lol.

once again thank you very much!

Re: Interior colouring

That looks great, I wanna go for a similar effect, the black looks great.

Is it just a case of remove > sand > prime > paint > laquer > refit?

How much did it cost you to do and how long did it take?

Re: Interior colouring

took me a good few days as i let it dry properly...i removed it gave it a good clean with soapy water let it dry properly then primed it with white primer that took about 2 coats and a couple of days to dry making sure i didnt get any runs so i didnt have to sand it down then i used the satin black from halfords cant remember how many coats a gave it but i made sure it was even and really took my time to avoid runs and then gave it plenty of time to dry then i gave it a few coats of laquer making sure i covered the whole thing left that to dry...kinda done the same with the blue except i had to sand a few bits and respray due to runs...i have sprayed the whole interior of the car it looks the business like and isnt expensive to do just take your time lol
