Hi all, I have a "y" reg Punto that has around forty eight thousand on the clock. I'm due to service it and thought it may be a good idea to change the coil packs as I was told recently that these items tend to go around this mileage and when they do they can harm the ECU. Is this true? Also, I have been looking on the internet for a Fiat spares site, like Europarts but cannot find any. Does anyone know of any please? cheers nath.

Ok, so I will not bother, thanks. Why do Puntos have so much trouble with the ECU? Nearly everyone I speak to with a Punto has had to fit a new one. What causes the problem and what are the symptoms of a failing ECU? Cheers nathan

Why not find out if yours has already been changed, chances are it already has.

As for why the fail.....who 100% knows, why do computers stop working, why does my Skytv stop working every other day:bang: ...I would probably say a transistor fails internally.Happens to other makes of cars aswell by the way;)

Symptons....can vary but normally only running on 2 cylinders with no negative trigger from ECU.

Thanks for that. Yes you are right other cars get these probs too. In fact I was looking at an audi forum the other day and it was quite scary at some othe probs they were having. And on the down side their parts are twice as dear. Thats what I like about Fiats, they do go wrong like any other car but what I have found is that the parts are generaly alot cheaper:) . I would like a diesel car and have thought about a Fiat, but to be honest I know nothing about Fiat diesels with regard as to good they are compared to say a Peugeot or citreon diesel. cheers
