Subject: Head lights dont work

Hi All, My 00 Fiat Punto(sporting) has just had a problem with both head lights going off at the same time. Would this be a fuse problem ? if so, where can I check this?. I know where both fuse boxes are but I need to know the exact location of this fuse (i have lost my manual) so that I can check it.
The full beams and the side lights are OK. it it just the main beams.
Can anyone advise. If I bring it to a garage they will charge me big time:bang:

Im guessin by (00) its the MK2 for the main headlights the fuses are in the engine bay fusebox F14 and F15 if they havent blown even try a bulb sometimes both bulbs can blow at same time...

Same thing happened to me this evening (the reason I joined the forum to get advice!). Only the side light are on, but the high beam warning light on the dashboard is lit (can't get the high beam to work).
Looking through my Haynes manual, I wonder if it's something to do with the relay switch.
The next question is - where is the relevant relay in the mark 1 Punto and how easy is it to change it?!

Its a well known fault on early mk2 puntos yes could very well be a relay when you turn the lights on you are giving power to the relay this in turn flips the power on to the bulbs if the relay is broken then lights wont work ive heard about a relay for main lights under the steering wheel Its the bottom-right one and check bulbs and also the voltage on the fuses when lights are switched on should give you a reading 12v try flashin your beams a couple of times this can sometimes bring main lights back to life for a while i think slight modification too the wiring conector on the columb switch needs done aint sure though..

All lights working normally this morning when it was a bit warmer and less damp. Presumed relay switch was currently playing ball but for how long?Went to Halfords after work to get new relay switch to be told by spotty youth (after staring long and hard at his terminal screen) that they didn't do relays switches. Pardon me?! :bang:
Lights had given up again by the time I got back to the MCH as the fog swept in from the Trent.
Many thanks to Punto.power for the top tips. Will go to a proper motor shop tomorrow...
