I have a basic punto, (1.2 8 valve) Dec 2001 from new with a front speakers only stereo. I have removed the factory fitted radio cassette & put in a radio cd unit. I want to add rear speakers.
Question: Is the wiring already in the loom for rear speakers or will I have to add wiring from the unit in the dashboard to the read parcel shelf?

easiest test would be to open up where the rear speakers should be and see if the cabling is there... if its there then either test for a signal or disconnect one of the front speakers and connect up to the rear and see if you get any noise if you do then you're all wired to go if not then you'll have to wire up from the head unit...

yeah the boot light wiring is in my punto mk2. not really relevant but my old mid range 405 had all appropriate wiring for stuff only fitted to high end models. i assume most manufacturers use a standard loom in all models and just plug the extra stuff in for the higher spec ones

from a cost point of view it probably makes sense to consolidate the wiring loom to one part but mmm who know with fiat... one way to check i suppose would be to contact fiat parts and see if there is more than one type of wiring loom.. if there isn't then it would be a safe bet that there is at least the wiring from the back of the car to the front but possibly a piece missing from the stereo connector to the wiring loom.. not sure if fiat will provide that level of info or not..

I have the same model from March 2001 and that didn't have speaker wiring in the back. It was easiest enough to put in myself though!

I have fitted the wiring already, just need to buy the speakers. Considering Kenwood KFC 1058S, £20 a pair from Argos.
I'm not a hi fi purist, I just want additional speakers in the back of the car.
The head unit is a JVC CD/Radio, £100, 4 x 45 watts.
