When I tried to start my HGT this morning the engine was terribly lumpy and the engine management light came on.
As I have Fiat warranty with AA cover I called them out and fault
code P0301 was discovered (coil pack problem)?
The car was then taken to the dealer I purchased it from, only to find out that they (and surrounding dealers) don't have a coil pack in stock. They didn't do any further diagnostics, so I really hope this is the problem (They took the AA patrolman's word for it).

I had to stamp my foot to get a hire car (Fiat Panda ) as initially they wouldn't give me one. I've only had the HGT for 8 weeks and have covered 1,300 miles approx in that time.

Sounds to me that it is the coil pack when engine is running lumpy and rough if you could smell a electrical burning thats one way of knowing one of the coil packs are burned out and shame you didnt have your car outside theres a way of knowing if it is a coil pack but i think the AA are good i would go with his word..

Coil pack replaced under warranty, and all is well.

I can give the Panda back now
