Removing centre dash for spraying for a MK1 punto sporting. just what screws to take out etc, i canyt really find any good ones and someone would prob know the best 1. cheers ppl (y)

there isn't really a thread as it isn't hard, just a faff.

you need a 4 or 5mm allen key (a good one, as rubbish ones will round and make it a mess/2day job to get it out)
and some common sense.

pop up the gear gaitor (just pull gently from the front and back)
remove the handbrake gaitor
pull out the grey tray under the radio (just pull with fingers, a screwdriver will make a mess and you'll regret it)
remove the allen bolts under the radio (obvious now)
remove the two allen bolts in the tic tac storag box infront of handbrake lever (sometimes leccy window switchs there)
there are two more allen bolts which are now obvious (6in total i think)
pop up the upper part of the console.

remove the side bolts from either side of the radio in the footwell
gently pop up the rear flap hiding a 10mm nut in the centre (best way to do this is push a long screwdriver thru the handbrake opening and push from inside, as this will avoid panel damage)
remove the other two bolts from infront of the handbrake.
the rear part will now come off (with a fight) if you move one front seat forward, the other back it makes it easier to remove this part. it needs prised up.

the front section will now come loose.
wangle it so you can remove the lighter socket cable (squeese clips together on the inside)
lift the rear end of the front section clear of the gearlever first, then up. hopefully you won't scratch any of the dash or yourself with its sharp plastic corners.

the little metal bracket thing under the stereo that stops it getting nicked is self explainatory, 4little allen bolts, and one big one attached to the back of the stereo (usually)

and thats it!!

if you want a nice geargaitor made from whatever colour leather and stithcing you want look up mr gaitor on ebay, send him your old gaitor attached to the plastic clip thing and he will copy it in thick ass leather for about £13
