I have got a Punto 1.2ELX 2000 which I have not owned for 6 months, it has started to judder when you pull away in 1st gear usually when you are stuck in slow moving traffic. The thing is you never know when its going to happen and when I have taken it to my dealer it never goes wrong.

Does any body else have the same problem.

hi there got the same juddering but only after a longish run ie 40 mile plus also sometimes going down from 3rd to 2nd it's a bit notchy and you get a slight craunch car 20 ths old around 35 thou on clock

Hi mate

You say you get a crunch going from 3rd to 2nd, infact I had the same problem and the dealer changed my 2nd gear but did not inprove as they said give it 2000 mile to bed in. It no doesnt realy crunch but can be difficult to engage at times, occasionally will crunch. When cold its realy difficult going from 1st to 2nd so going back to dealer this week so see what they are going to do next. They changed the gearbox oil just before xmas but this hasnt realy made much difference. Hopefully the car will judder for them THIS TIME when i take in in.

Hi there

I have a Punto 1.2ELX (2000) and mine also started to judder pulling away in 1st gear, noticeably after a lot of stop and go on slow moving traffic. Have not taken it to the dealer yet. A guy I know told me to check the fuses, could be a loose one. I checked the fuse box on the engine and all the fuses where okay, however it seems to be one relay missing!? Checking with the symbols on the back of the ecu lid, T10 has an injector symbol but I have no relay there... Is it supposed to be like that? [?] Can it be related with the judder?

Any news?
Regards.

i dont think it will be a loose fuse! sounds like a clutch problem
usualy uneven wear on the clutch plate/pressure plate.

I'd go with the Clutch on this one. Mine used to do it very rarely, but since I had a new clutch fitted in december its still to do it.

Expensive thing to replace just because the car judders every now and then though!
