Re: Track Rod Ends... Help Needed!

You need a pair of spanners, one to fit the end of the track rod end, and the other to fit the locking nut. You then need a ball joint opener, preferably a screw one rather than a hammer in one (less stress on the steering rack).

Basically its jack up and support.
Wheel off.
Nut off where track rod end bolts to hub carrier.
Hold track rod end with one spanner and undolocking nut - you may need to hold the track rod itself with spanner/molegrips - undo locking nut 1 turn only.
Hold track rod and unwind track rod end.
Wind on new track rod end upto locking nut, fiddle until you've locked it in the same place as the one you took off.
Pop the end into the hub carrier and wind on the nut, should pull the pin in, careful not to send the pin spinning in the end or you'll never get it tightened (or undone again).
Replace wheel.
Remove supports and lower.

I then usually take it for a drive then into a garage to have the tracking set.

Hope this is useful and correct.
