hello peeps its one thing after another for me was in the garage today gettng my new back part of exaust fitted £40 for the exauast and a £10 to get it fitted was telling the kid that i was going to get the cambelt changed then asked me to start to see if there was any blowing and guess what the cambelt snapped i spoke to soon :( just woundering will it defently bent the valves? ive got a new belt and tensioner so gonna put the belt on just to see fingers crossed gonna buy a new water pump same time £42 head gasket kit £40 new bolts £15 and how ever much it is to get the valves sorted if there bent and a drink for my pal for doing the work so looks like a few quid at the worst £300 if there bent im just looking on the worst at min anything less is a bonus cant get to start till tomorrow hopefully im praying now :bang:
 
As custard said.

While you are getting belt done you are right to get the rest done, don't need to remove engine, just need to remove same covers and nasty plasticy bits.

belt and tensioner bearing is about £19-25 from Motoquip or TMS, and is a doddle to fix, seriously the hardest bit is getting the rusty headless screws out that hold the wheelarch liner in.

hello no didnt put the belt on and try again had it stripped down looks like i bent most of the valves nothing but trouble the head man said he can do the valves but it all needs shiming up now looks like more money dam just waiting to find a price for the job rang round yards for a head no joy there like rocking horse chit :( fiat breakers in bham said they got a engine just dont want to split think they said 220 for the whole engine but dont know the mileage my one has only got 56k on it so dont really want to take the gamble or have the trouble of fitting what other heads off fiats are the same as the 1.6 sporting 96 ? or does anyone know somewhere in birmingham that would do the work on my head :bang:
 
hello peeps just to say ive got my head back today it was £150 for all new valves skim and reshimmed allso got a new water pump headgasket kit headbolts antifreeze all these parts came to £ 96 for all of them so just gotta wait till tomorrow to get fitted back up fingers crossed should be ok (it wants to be lo l;) so should be back on the road tomorrow (y)
 
glad to say back on the road every thing seems sound touch wood just woundering how many miles i have to run the new valves in ? car just feels like it wants to go just takeing it easy at min (y)
