2000 punto mk2 1.2. A few times in the last month my engine has chugged for a second while idle, nothing to get too fussed about. However yesterday evening sitting in traffic after work my engine was vibrating very badly, the whole car was shaking. I had to keep my foot in the accelerator at times to keep it from stalling. Was also down on power when I got out on the open road, but was fine after a while and seemed to drive fine this morning. Engine misfiring? I replaced the throttle body less than a year ago.
On a separate note, is there any tricks for getting the hose connected to the bottom of the coolant reservoir to seal properly. I'm going through the full tank in about a week and I think it's leaking from there. Thanks, Conor

Rough running and loss of coolant could also be HG...Would be well worth getting a compression test done, these engines DO NOT like running hot due to a loss of coolant.
Best suggestion if the hose is leaking is replace it with a new one, they dont normally leak

Thanks for the reply. Loss of coolant has been that way for a while, I'm just noticing it more now as have been doing alot more milage recently. I never actually let the system run out of coolant, and it never overheats.

Car ran fine for the rest of the day today. If I kill a cylinder for troubleshooting purposes and it acts the same as when it's vibrating then I know it's a misfire causing the problem. What's the easiest safe way to temporarily disable a cylinder? I thought you could do it with multi ECU scan but I couldn't find it.

maybe you forgot it went to low and you now got air inside, try to fill it and bleed it

I had terrible issues getting my bottom rad hose to stay sealed on my old mk2....
I ended up double jub clipping it and any coolant removaln was done of the coolant rail connections instead....

Dont know how well the cv style clips would hold up as i use the compression type

Jub clips work better - buy decent ones as cheao chinese crap dont tighten up enough

Ziggy

I never let it go completely empty. In any case, I will be flushing and bleeding the system at the weekend as I must sort that hose. There is water leaking from under the reservoir, I assume it's from the hose.

Yeah I have one jubilee clip on it now, it's a good one and is as tight as I can get it. I'll probably just remove everything, give everything a good clean and replace and hope for the best. Might use some PTFE tape, even though it's meant for threaded things, just because I like the stuff.

Easiest way to disable a cylinder..is to whip the HT lead off. That very effectively stops the spark plug from firing
