So I've had a hornet back box fitted & don't get me wrong,the sound is beautiful and growly,it's just so loud[emoji23](only realised after I bought it)

Any tricks to dampen the sound? Wire wool? Don't really fancy taking it off because it legit sounds like thunder lol

Only my opinion but the only real solution is replace it.
Sell it on eBay or Gumtree to reduce your loss and hope that no one near you buys it and drives you mad with the noise.

If you are going to keep it and can get an MOT , do everyone a favour when you start car just drive off straight away , gently and when you get to your destination turn off straight away.
Someone living near me has couple of friends with loud exhausts who visit . They arrive and leave driving gently which is very considerate and appreciated. One of them sits outside waiting for his buddy to come out with engine idling , it's worse than when car driving. The low frequency sounds penetrate the double glazing and walls from 100metres away.

Big thumbs up to you for wanting to do something about excessive noise.

Ohhh! Jackwhoo mines not that bad! And when my cars idling you can hardly hear it,it's just when you're in second and putting your foot down.

if you have 8v engine with straight middle pipe
you could try a 16v Middle box - it MAY help with dampening it down
but not a guarentee

I looked at a 1.2 8v sporting a couple of years ago..it sounded like it needed a new exhaust..but it was new! It sounded throaty and actually quite nice TBH. Can the sporting three doors back box be fitted to an elx 1.2 8v 5 door?
