Well i have this problem for a while on my punto hgt 1.8 ...

Well the problem is that the car randomly dies, usually when i am stopping on red light or so... when stopping the revs very fast go down and car dies... there is no problem to start it again at all... Sometimes which i very interesting the revs falling down below 500,it seems the car dies for 1-2 seconds and its coming back again...

This happens to me 1-2-3 times in month or could happen 2-3 times in the day... thats so random i couldnt figure out anything.

Sometimes is running great sometimes dont...

Also i have rough idle sometimes... When stopping needle it goes steady down to about 1200 rpm then it slow down pauses a bit on 1000 and comes down to almost to 500 and comes back to 800, and as i mention there are sometimes when coming down to 500 and car dies

I checked for a errors and i only have one and it says rpm sensor p0335, which is crank shaft sensor, and i changed it with a new one, but nothing changed, and the error is coming back although i am deleting it...

Also i am cleaning the throttle body often and the IACV,so...

Any other ideas?

If the car is loosing the crank signal it, most cars die
Some vauxhalls can run just off the cam sensor
But once u delete the error code they become pigs to start

As for p0335 is the circuit malfunction crank sensor a

So its the entire circuit, so wiring connectors sensor and ecu
If there is a broken wire itll cause random issues

My worry is i think the hgt uses the flywheel to get the timing reference of top dead center
If pressing the clutch down makes the car cut out, is the flywheel moving? Is the clutch blocking the sensor somehow?

This is more to this than just a sensor failure me thinks

Timing could an issue, but that cause hell alk the time not just at lights

Ziggy

I have to check the cable which goes from crankshaft sensor to the ecu... but if there is any damage to wire or something why the car is starting without any hesitation, without problem at all... but i will check that...

Any way, i have tested few times at idle, with only stepping on gas pedal and releasing it, the revs are falling down to 500 or below rpm, they doesnt fall to 800 and stay like that... and car dies... but also this is randomly and not often...

i would be checking the idle speed controler
ie is the passage blocked or getting blocked due to say excessive crankcase blow by?

well i am cleaning it... what do i need to check more? how do i know that it works properly? Why or what causes the idle air control valve fail randomly?
