did you replace the friction plate , the cover plate and the release bearing?

is release by cable or hydraulic?

Hi I replaced a clutch yesterday but it's still slipping... could it be a diff problem..?

2003 mk2 Valeo clutch fitted

Dont see how it can be a differential problem.

I know when I did my own clutch it was not any different to before I changed it. But a few weeks later I was stalling the car all of the time so it must have had to bed in a bit to be fully effective.

However I was replacing an old worn working clutch

3 piece clutch fitted...

I had to get a new seal for the top cam as was leaking which is why I replaced the old clutch...was slipping a little..
I thoroughly degreased the Flywheel prior to refitting. All clutch movement seems normal no sticking etc.

I got it home and sprayed more degreaser through the spy hole and left it over night. Took it out just and is slipping worse than before..

I'm thinking the degreaser could be the problem here... it's a commercial one but I'd it's making a 'soapy' barrier then I guess it's new clutch time again..

Hence why i use brake cleaner
Pretty safe to use on alot of stuff (except rubber and electronics)

Whats the degreser?

Is the car suddenly revving up as the clutch dips?

Degreaser through the spy hole sounds like bad news for a clutch lining.

Did you wash it out afterwards? Running the car at idle with a power jet while somebody operates the clutch might help but if it was already slipping..........
