Did the Puntos and the Stilos with this engine came with a dual mass flywheel from factory? Some say they do have DMF, and others say they don't, so I'm completely confused.

Have a look at eper
look up the models you are interested in.
I just tried eper it wasn't working at moment you can try later.

My jtd had one (replacing it and the clutch was an expensive day...).

I have checked several catalogues and all the ones looked at list DMF flywheels.
Makes sense because jtd produces a huge pulse of torque when fuel ignites. Even the lower power jtd versions produce lots of torqued.
I hope this helps.

No matter if it has . The power and torque sure makes up for the extra cost imo! I had a 53 1.9jtd .punto..superb! Unfortunately she's died due to rust in sills and up into rear subframe mount areas. I'm now stripping good parts for my 'new' 52 punto1.2 8v. That Diesel was superb. 60+mpg and pulled like a train. Really miss my jtd! Though my little1.2 is really nice too:) saved her from a dealer before she was scrapped:) if you need any jtd parts cheap give me a shout. I'll be fully breaking her in the summer..IE a few months....

Yep, I just checked eper too and it doesn't work atm.

Wack your reg into Eurocarpart website and see if they list a DMF for the car
if they do - it probably means it does - but dont take it as 100% fact

ziggy

I don't have a car with the 1.9 JTD engine, just generally asking if it has DMF.

Possibly depends what year it is, most likely no, if it's an older car

Well I'm looking for a Mk2a Punto with this engine, so model years 2000-2003.

Oh well sh*t then, I guess I'll avoid the 1.9 JTD.

Well the low-down torque is great, but other diesels with similar power and torque don't have DMFs. The 2.0 HDi 90 has no DMF and VNT, yet it still produces more power and torque than the 1.9 JTD 80. I was considering a 1.9 JTD because the cars with 80 hp or less are cheaper to insure where I live, but I think it's not worth it. I believe that the Mk2a 1.9 JTD is probably not much quicker than my current Mk2b 1.3 Multijet anyway, it's certainly not as economical around town (though it has longer gears so it should be quieter on motorways) and it's most definitely more expensive to maintain because of the DMF. Guess I'll go for a 206 2.0 HDi instead.
