I don't really know how this happened as it isn't my car, but a family members, they turned the key in the door and the whole barrel turned instead :confused:
Apparently that door can't be unlocked from the outside, you have to open from the passenger side but the central locking will open the drivers door so the whole mechanism isn't busted.
Is this common? Will the barrel need to be replaced, I've said I'll go and have a look at it for her but any forward advice would be appreciated :)

Aint there like a big c clip that holds the whole mechanism in place
If thats dropped off i think that causes a spinning lock

the big clip has to be secured properly ,not easy unless your used to it and door stripped properly for access
if the wrong lock was used ie a passenger lock in a drivers door would cause such problems too
