Noticed an odd issue over the last few days with my 1.4. The temp gauge rises properly from cold and stays at the midway point the whole way through my journey to work. On my way home, I usually encounter stop-start traffic in my last 10 mins and I've noticed just over the last couple of days that when I get to this point the hot air stops coming into the cabin and that the temp gauge starts to rise. The fan is kicking in and (as I have to get out to open a gate) seems to be running OK.

The waterpump, thermostat and temp sensor were replaced about a year ago now and the car has been in constant use since then, though I have to admit I've not checked the coolant level once since then

That said, it seems like a really odd issue as the system seems to work fine for around 45 mins, then decides it can't be bothered?

Either that or after the pump or stat once fully warmed up is causing issues....

Lack of cabin heat is poor flow always
Either blockage or trapped air causing a restriction....

Unless youve got a heater door thats dying once hot?

Is the fan defo working properly too? Interior one

Thanks chaps :)

Will check the level when I go for my lunch break @ 12.
Interior fan works on all settings except 3, been like that since I bought it.
I seem to recall (@blu73) that it took a long time to bleed the air out, but there's no gurgling sounds as I would associate with trapped air (there was before we changed all the parts above).

Sorry no, not always, lack of heat in this case is nothing to do with airflow, it's a lack of coolant (flowing or otherwise) in the heater matrix. Symptoms are classic low coolant level indications. Check hoses (squeeze test with header tank cap off) and bleed points for coolant. you could have air lock or blocked pipe from header so level looks OK but is low in circuit. May not have been bleed properly when pump etc were replaced.

Lack of flow = lack of water or air
Caused by something

An air blockage in the cooling system can cause coolant to stop flowing sufficiently
Espically in crappy punto heater matrix's
