Technical Loss of power at 3000rpm

Technical Loss of power at 3000rpm

I'm having a similar problem with my 2002 punto, posted about it in another thread but as it seems to be very similar thought I might chip in here.

When accelerated to approx 3000rpm (usually between 2700 and 3100) I lose power for a half second, the EML flashes on and then the power comes back and the light goes off. This happens every time I rev to 3000.

Ran the ECU scan, no faults reported.

IN the parameters section, I got the following readings:
Lambda 1 Precat status: Closed Loop
Lambda 1 After cat status: Open loop (this should be closed I think?)
Lambda 1 Pre cat signal: Approx 0.7V at idle and at 2000rpm
Lambda 1 After cat signal: Approx 0.7V at idle and at 2000rpm.
Lambda 1 Precat and after cat diagnosis flick between rich and lean at idle and at 2000rpm.

Lambda 1 check pre cat: OK
Fuel system monitoring: OK
Cat Converter monitoring: OK

Tried to run the Self adaptation reset and phonic wheel reset, says conditions not suitable for both (despite engine being hot).

If anyone has an idea of what this problem could be I'd be very grateful!

Crankshaft sensor?

Is there any chance that the crankshaft sensor could cause this problem?

We noticed on the Multiecuscan that the rpm parameter would momentarily show a 0 RPM reading momentarily as problem manifests itself at 3000rpm and the revs drop; however the engine speed would not have dropped below 1000rpm?

Just to note also that while Multiecuscan indicated that the after Cat Lambda was sometimes open loop; completely disconnecting the Lambda did not have any impact on the problem. It's also worth noting that repeatedly accelerating when stationary to the effective 3000limit resulted in some white smoke. However below this limit the engine runs perfectly.

with my fiat, i tried the phlonic wheel learn. this made the engine management light stay on. to took this opportunity to run diagnostics and got a hit!

I hope that this is a coil pack and nothing more!

Thank you all for the help!
