Technical Oil light on on idle..

So I've took the head off and head gasket looks new but stuck to the head so I'll be replacing it... I've got a 'true' ruler and strong light and I'm pretty sure there's some light seeping through on side of engine number.. so I'm thinking a warped head.. I've gorlt a spare on an engine I know is good so gonna replace it along with Head gasket... doing cambelt water pump etc aswell while I'm here.

Before I degreased the side where pulleys are there seemed to be oil pooling by the round metal plug.. is that a seal of some sort of so name of it as I'll replace that too...

It's at no point overheated....

Yeah, Flisko tends to make one line comments without reading the whole thread.

The round "seal" is called a core plug (sometimes a freeze plug) they are used to close holes in the block that are required by the casting process (to get the core of the mould, usually a special sand, out). Normally they connect to the water passages. This is where the freeze plug name comes from, they are often pushed out if the coolant freezes and there is a misconception that their purpose if to protect the block. That one is far too big to seal an oil passageway, it would be pushed out by the pressure. It probably is just collecting oil that seeped out from somewhere else. Don't touch the core plug. Put a good quality new head gasket set on and see how it goes. I think you are looking for issues that don't exist. Your plan to change the water pump and belt is good though.

All done. New HG ETC and no more leaks... TFFT... lol. It must of been a warped head.. no more leaks.
Although I did notice one of the plugs on replacement head doesn't sit as deep in the chambers as other 3.. took 2 out to compare and are the same length plugs.. Can't get my head round that one.. tried to tighten as much as I could but still recessed.. oh well runs ok so not gonna stress over it.
