Hi,

I've used many guides on this forum and the threads/answers on have helped me do many repairs myself so thank you to everyone who has contributed :)

My Punto died a few months ago due to terminal rust and I was gutted because it was my first car and I did all the work myself (except a clutch change and driveshaft change [even that last one I did try but failed!])

The engine made it to 108014 no problem and I often ran the car at around 50mpg (highest 53mpg!) and it only ever let me down once on the inside (of 4) lane on the M27 with VERY sudden loss of power which was an experience - oh and the time the drivers door hinges snapped and the door fell off onto my foot!

Thanks again!

Hi,

I now have a Renault Megane which is a real pain to work on so I already miss being able to tinker etc.

The MOT bill was almost £800 this year and the previous year it had been £500 as the car under carrige just seemed to be falling to pieces :( I was offered £30 for part exchange (someone reversed into the side and drove off leaving me with a pretty battered side) so I figured I'd try breaking it for parts instead :)

As an Ex Punto-er myself, I share the sentiments of Pompey Puntolad1
I wouldn't have been able to tackle a fraction of what I did on "Paolo" without the generous help of the guys on this forum.
Unfortunately Paolo succumbed to a head gasket (fixed, then a piston ring and advancing rust finally put paid to him. I left him at a scrapyard in exchange for some money and felt like I had let him down. Had a lump in my throat on the bus home!
(silly old sod!)

Aye, had a Punto years ago myself. Great wee motor & as I've said many times before, there were times I asked a lot from the car. I sold it on & although it still was in decent nick, I felt I didn't get near enough for it. Ah well you were there to the bitter end, time to move on.
