Hi all

I will be plugging in to see why the gearbox/comfortmatic warning light has come up but thought I'd see if anyone else had experienced this and can inform me of possible outcomes after diagnosis is done.

So in addition to the above light coming on it will not exceed 3rd gear. We drive it in the automatic option. My parter tried driving in manual to see if the issue rectified but it did not. Anyone got any idea on what will need to be done to put this right. We have not had much luck with cars lately so I'm expecting it to be an expensive solution ?

Thank you in advance for any advice/response.

Hi, I posted something like this a few weeks back. However my car drove normally with the gearbox light on and it isn't a semi auto either but thought you could give this a go anyway.

My stepdad simply went through each gear a few times whilst the car was parked on the drive and the light went off! He said if it happened again put it in 'low' and then continue to go through 'park, drive, reverse, neutral' etc.

Really hope this manages to fix it for you x

Thank you for your reply I'll give it ago. It can't hurt/make things worse. ?

Hi, Sounds as if the actuator for the gears over 3rd might not be working, which could be electrical ,electronic or hydraulic, as when the gears are in in 'manual' it still relies on the auto parts functioning correctly. Unfortunately, it's an extremely complicated system. I don't think the person who designed it knows how it actually works. There is a web-site in New Zealand that gives you some idea how it works, and someone from there gave me some tricks to bleed the hydraulic system without using the Fiat 'Examiner' If you put Fiat-Dualogic-Training -Manual -M20 into Google you can get a download of that document. It doesn't actually cover the 6 speed Dualogic (if that's what you've got) ,but it does give an idea of how it works.
Best of Luck!

The Dualogic gearboxes work on the same principle (Magic) which ever car they are in .There are numerous entries about them . I think that Ahmett gives one of the best breakdowns (bad choice of word, that ) on them.
