I am facing the same repair on my own 1.2 8v, I cant tell you if it's the correct seal, I know as much as you, but I am interested to know how much the seal was and where purchased, please let me know.
I think there is an updated seal you can get which is more like a rubber sleeve rather than an O ring, If anyone has any knowledge on where to get and how much these are, Im all ears.

I bought a complete new metal water distribution pipe and fitted it to my daughter's 1.2 8v punto last November with excellent results. I found it supplied by Fiat parts supplier eurocarcare french & italian. [email protected]
It included the 'O' ring and was (I thought) quite reasonable in price at £15.60.
The part number is ECC55188163 Coolant Pipe. The interesting thing about it is that the 'O' ring was already fitted to the pipe at the union with the rear of the water pump end. I believe this is a recent modification. There is a manufacturer's instruction Original BIRTH (italywww.birth.it) which specifically states "it is compulsory to lubricate the housing not the water hose in order to avoid the displacement of the o-ring resulting in possible leaks."
I justified changing the whole thing as I had also changed the water pump and fitted a new radiator and used working rad fan. It was hard to fit in place and required careful prying with a large pry bar...but it worked fine no leaks. This item, like the sump is very exposed and suffers badly from corrosion.

Looks like an ordinary O ring, should be available from a selection kit, try any good Hydraulic hose suppliers. They cost buttons and come in all sizes.

Going back to this it's the right seal I know theres two types one a triangle type seal and this o ring and yeah you could go somewhere else for the seal but it's what 3 quid from fiat and you know it's going to be right
