Technical Loss of power

Technical Loss of power

It's when the car is stopped and at idle that it struggles to run. And I was when I had been stopped for a few second that the rpm suddenly noise dived. I haven't noticed anything with the throttle valve its self. Should in take a closer look at the throttle body in case there is a blockage?

I was just driving it there, sometimes when I go to accelerate from a stand still it won't rev at all. I'd have my foot to the floor and it would still be at idle revs, then after a second or two it will kick in.

Car cut out today while stopped at a roundabout. It's started perfect then and it kept driving.

What will happen if I remove the oxygen sensor to relive exhaust back pressure(if that's the problem). Will it just show an error code and run on a default map?

I took out the oxygen sensor and took if for a quick drive. It drove a little better but was still jumpy(power goes and kicks back in). Can I rule out the exhaust as being the problem?

No but if the coil pack are the problem I would get an error code, or so I'm told

MES? I haven't got any faults at all unfortunately, so no indication as to what's wrong.

Doesn't show on most fault readers, on multiecuscan (MES) probably get low battery warning, is it worse when lights, wipers, electric windows and power steering working? and very cold weather. Even a test at car parts shop won't help. You could test by starting car with steering straight no lights or anything working if it runs ok turn on lights and turn steering heated window and see if starts to misfire.

I will try tomorrow I'm in the pub atm. But I'm fairly certain running the car with a high electrical load will make no difference to the symptoms I have.

No I'm not in the pub anymore. It's rag week in cork at the moment. Everyone takes a week off college and goes binge drinking for charity instead( it would only happen in Ireland).
Hmmm it's worth a try but most of the time when I start it it runs fine so I won't be able to tell. When I was having battery problems before sometimes the car would start but the electronics(lights dash ect) would shut off while the car was cranking and then come back on a few second after the car had started.

No it's for more local charities like community hospitals and homeless shelters ect

Would it be possible that the loss of power is due to vacuum building up in the tank due to a clogged breather? It would resist the flow of fuel into the engine. It would also explain why the filling pump always cuts out while refueling due to excess back pressure. As fuel is pumped in the air has nowhere to go?
