Hi guys,

Can anyone explain why I'd need to buy a gear knob made specifically for cars with lift-up reverse if I want to change my top? As in, what's the difference between these ones & standard ones?

I've recently change my gaiters on my mk2 & am wanting to complete a new look, my problem is that there's a lot less choice for sticks with lift-up reverse (n)

After changing my gaiters, I can't understand why it would matter what top was on?

Cheers

The lift up reverse, is just stop you accidentally selecting reverse instead of 4 or a retarded 5th selector :)

But the gear knobneeds to have a Sleeve space inside for the lift part to go into

Kinda a Stick in the hole motive

Ziggy

i like to switch from fifth gear to reverse while doing 150-250kmh on highway, a special song is played if done right, i still havent figured out where it is commin from, but i have a suspicion the aforementioned tune is making its origin somewhere from the front

I know the point of the lift-reverse, I just didn't understand why the top would need to be different :)

Guess I'll have to keep a look out for a lift-up one...

Cheers

Its because the gaitor has a collar above where your fingers go for reverse
This "collar" goes up into the gearknob itself

If you could see the underside ud understand why it has to be special
