I have a 2000 mk2 punto. When I turn off the ignition, the dash lights flicker randomly , sometimes straight away sometimes after 5 seconds. On the small screen, the number showing the angle of headlights and the odometer show up on either side of the time, as it would when the ignition is on. It should only be displaying the time when the ignition is off but they now stay on and are often still there when I get up in morning. Sometimes then i have none of these symptoms at all. This had drained my battery to the point where it barely starts(11.8v) . I'm getting a drain of about 300mh with the ignition off, which is way to high. I'm thinking its the dash computer acting up. Or it could be something else draining the battery , and the dash computer is acting up because of the low voltage when the engine is off, everything works fine when the engine is on and the voltage is around 13.9v. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Its the BSI (Body computer) is crashing on shutdown, as a result you get odd / different results

I suspect that this is what you are experiencing

I' got the oil light staying on and the temperature guage going to Max while ignition was off
Didnt get battery issues because i was regulary driving still

Disconnect battery overnight - give battery a good charge as well

See if this cures it - its a cheap fix if so

Thanks Ziggy , I'll do that. If this fails , is it most likely the body computer that needs replacing rather then the instrument cluster?

I disconnected the battery and charged it, but unfortunately didn't fix it. The symptoms have actually got worst. Is there any other cheat fixes? Thanks
