Hi im having a problem with my cars radiator fan it dosent seem to kick in at all and not sure why its all conected up and the car will sit at the halfway point on the temp gauge. has anyone got any idea on what it could be?

The fan only kicks in when it is needed not all the time, when it runs it will only be for a minute or two to drop the temp then it turns off.

To check the fan, with engine off spin it by hand, does it turn freely. I believe if you unplug the coolant sensor with the engine running the fan should switch on.if not with the engine off unplug the fan and give it 12 volt's if it does not run it is dead.

Yeah it spins freely and have connected to power pack and it runs. I've hammered it the other night racing my misses home and again tonight racing a new fiesta and not heard it even when I stopped. Was just wondering as I never hear it but the temp sits perfect on the middle.

Fan can stick and not cut in even though every other part of the cooling system is good I just bought a used fan/shroud on eBay tester day for £29 delivered (Argos click and collect) it arrived today and is as good as new!

Yeah thinking about doing the same tbh getting a new one

if it runs when given 12V , then the fan is fine..,

as stated using MES can test the whole system..,
