I currently own a 52 plate Punto Active, and am having an issue with it.

A few weeks ago I found a hair like substance coming from the exhaust, I pulled this out a few times and it has now stopped happening.
The issue is now, my car sounds like a 50cc moped lol!

Anyone have any idea what the issue could be and how much I'd be looking at to repair it? I am a complete car novice so I have no idea, I just about know how to make it move haha.

Also one other thing, will driving the car in this state damage it further? Because I need my transport to get work and back (around 8 miles per a day).

The hair like stuff will be from the cat convertor...
You need someone to look at it..

Buy your own parts from say eurocarparts and then get someone to fit them
You will save a lot of money that way..

Don't be surprised if the engine management light comes on..

<p>i managed to replace everything from the cat back for £45 on a 1.2 8v.</p>

Hi,
TBH if it's LOUD then it's likely to be packing from the rear silencer that's blown out..,
if in doubt go to a garage and ask for advice / a quote..,

Yeah, more than likely the packing in the rear silencer is going for a walk.
If you're cheeky you could sell it as a 'performance' exhaust. Always loads looking for them.

Get a honest exhaust place to check it out before buying anything.
There shouidnt be any charge.. Or pressure to buy parts from them.

£45 was for centre pipe, back box, clamps and rubber hangers. Fitted myself as not difficult to replace from Cat back.

Careful touching that stuff. My old polo did the same. Stung the hell out of my hands

I'm gonna run it down a garage in the week, quote up a cat + fitting & a silencer + fitting from someone I know who's breaking a Punto, doesn't seem as if its gonna cost me more than about £80. So that's some good news I guess lol!

I used gloves luckily, I've read since online its fiber glass, so that could be why lol!
