Looks like you did a great job on that cylinder head! I'm just about to do a head gasket change myself, I've only ever worked on classic cars and motorcycle engines so this will be interesting. Was your head skimmed or just cleaned up?

I.ve skimmed the head gasket about 0.64 mm ordinary is 0.15 mm. Works very well fuel burning compression is bigger there comes some hp or kw-s ? my engine got about 6 kw after skimming headgasket now i have 50 kw, ordinary is 44kw . . . Its easyest engine i ever get. But now the car stays again because i working with exhaust manifold. I but there self welded manifold i skimming bigger exhoust outlet holes ? and i remove catalytic converter ? ... one thing i work more is widening steel wheels 5.5" to 7.5" first wheels and 5.5" to 8" rear wheels ?

Not started mine yet, not enough room in my garage to get out of this evil weather we are having.

Watched a good vid on YouTube, looked a very professional outfit, they checked the head with a very precision straight edge and a 0.05mm feeler by placing it in various places on the head and checking wether the feeler slid under.

Yes the 8v is a lovely simple engine, I've been very impressed by its reliability, economy and ease of servicing.
