I ask this because I have just had to replace both my headlights, got them both from the same car.One had metal holders in ( were the blots fit don't know what they are called) and the other did not also the fog light on one also looked different.So is there a difference and what do theses metal brackets do ?

i think fog lights looked different cuz there probably wasnt any fog light there, just cover without any bulb behind it

Standard Punto Mk2 Headlight is sidelight,Headlight,Indicator and main beam light, the outer position on the light is a Blank (Just a cover with no bulb. Sporting and HGT have a fog light fitted in the outer slot (nearest wing)
MK2/B uses same headlight in all models as those with Fog light have it positioned in the Grills in the front bumper

Thanks for your help lads mine has the fog lights built in and I am sure the fog looks different must be me but the metal brackets definitely do not fit on the drivers side maybe it is because it is a different make

it fits even with metal brackets

There is issues where people have 1 headlight unit taking 1 set of bulbs, and the other side takes a different set

Weather it was replaced due to a fault, damage, crash damage, or ageing lens's its not always clear

But they do vary sometimes, so its vital to ensure you take the bulb out to compare to new one
