Just wondering if anyone has a guide to removing the rocker cover on a 16v or if its not worth it just to make it look nice?

it's quite "involved".., probably not worth it,

others may chime in now with tips of improving it's looks in-situ,

Thanks, thought as much I'll just get some small wire brushes and cover any plastic or holes

Now ive personally never done a 16v
But I believe the rocker also holds the cams in as well
But im not 100% sure on that

As for cleaning yes small wire brushs will help
Sand paper will get really rough bits up quickly
You will probably need an etch primer to allow paint to stick

To prevent overspray - spend time in prep

Yeah the rocker cover does contain the cams in a 16v. You'd have to remove the timing belt to remove the cover so I'd say it isn't worth it I'm afraid

When I did the cover on my 16v.. I used Autsol.and a small wire brush and some wet and dry. It came up more or less chrome..
Autosol is used by bikers for cleaning chrome on engines



I get fed up with it and painted the full engine in ceramic black.
