Technical Heater blower challenge

Technical Heater blower challenge

Just a couple of ideas.

I can put ignition lights on (not engine) with blower controls on and every thing should work. I will then start engine and we should 100% see fuse blow.

I can then do same test ignition on (not engine) and alter controls to 4 3 2 1 0 to see if fuse blows .

This may help without dismantling centre console ?

The only thing that is consistent is 12 volts on positive side the only other thing consistent is the testing of the negative side and how much it fluctuates and reading wobbles with ignition off, ignition on, and engine running. This was with everything connected . Fuse blew with ignition on engine not running previously I have been able to run blower fan in this condition . I am almost convinced its this varying negaitve reading causing this.

You need to find what on that circuit is allowing a dead short to ground

By disconnecting the relay it still happens means ita before

Did you ever get the reverse switch disconnected and to sre if there was a grounding out issue?

Hi Ziggy scratching my head mate . With relay removed switch disconnected and cluster disconnected. Ignition on . What should I see when testing both sides of the fuse terminal the one inside car. The readings on the multi meter I mean

I would have thought
1 side would show battery voltage when earthed
The other should show an open circuit if everything disconnected (so fuse slot and earth touching) if its saying theres a circuit
Its gotta be shorting somewhere

Hi Ziggy these are my findings have kind of hit a brick wall. I feel when I start the engine is when the dead short happens. Also the centre console lights turn off when i switch the heater blower on this was noticed by my daughter not me so would have to confirm this . Off to work nightshift mate any suggestions welcome.

Would an auto electrician get to the bottom of this no bother you think?

Hi just a belated thanks to Ziggy and Italian job great help a few months back. Took car to auto electrician problem was a bare wire touching body of car and fuse breaking he had to remove a bumper all in £125 pounds all working fine now. Cheers Lads

Struggling trying to release the resistor pack from its housing - the right hand lower clip is obvious and I presume it would lift to release as there is no room to press - the left hand upper clip is a nightmare - which way should this left clip go - it feels very close to the housing and is very difficult if not impossible to see. There does not appear to be any screw/bolt in position in what looks to be the large hole! Its the left clip thats got us stumped.
