Hi,

I after a spot of help. I have a CD changer that I am trying to diagnose a fault on. It is designed to fit a Punto 2/2b and I'm trying to fit it to my Alfa 156. It won't talk to the head unit properly.

Is there anyone in Peterborough that could spare me a few minutes to plug the CD changer into their car stereo and see if it springs into life?

In exchange I'll happily offer a passenger ride in my 156 GTA Sportwagon?

As previously pointed out earlier and later puntos used different serial communication systems between head unit and cd changer so though your cd changer might work in say a mk2b it won't necessarily be compatible with an older punto, or as you're finding out your Alfa. And yes they do use the came connector block, but as fiat like to prove time and time again industry standard mean nothing to them

Thanks for the reply.

I realise that the CD changer is no use to me.

I just want to find out if it is functioning properly at all!

Without the correct car to test it on, I can't legitimately return it as faulty!

Anyone in or near Peterborough that owns a Punto 2 or 2b with a factory head unit of any type?

I have tested the CD changer on the Alfa stock Blaupunkt HU and it behaves exactly the same as on the Blau aftermarket one.

Interestingly, I also have a connects2 iPod kit that is a fiat part and that works perfectly on both the Alfa head unit and the aftermarket Blau HU.

I'm fairly sure the changer or interface is not working, just need to test it to be sure.

Any volunteers?
