Hi Just bought a Fiat Punto Active Sport 1.2 8V, new to fiats first one running good except for a noise coming from front o/s wheel gather it is a wheel bearing, any one help is there just the one bearing or is there two front and rear on the front driver side wheel

There is a wheel bearing on all 4 corners

How to tell?
There isnt an exact science
A - cgeck for play
B - spin the wheel and feel for heavy rumbling coming through the spring
C - when driving, unload the wheel by throwing the cars weight off slightly - does it change
So for example a passenger bearing, steerung left and it goes quieter and then back again = a good indicator
D - if you cab securly hold the car off the ground, take up drive and listen / compare the noise ur getting

Could also be brake related noise, e.g. seized caliper rubbing against rusty disc face.


Are you sure it's a bearing?
It seems from this forum that bearing failure is fairly rare.
