Hi there,

I've recently replaced the 8v engine in my fiat punto, which died a horrible death with a 16v i got for a very good price.

with a little bit of patience I've managed to get the the 16v running on the 8v ecu pretty well, giving me an average of 40mpg (according to the cars clocks) around town, which ain't bad imo!

But I am using an 8v throttle body bolted together with two adaptor plates, which is a bit untidy and leeks ever so slightly.
I had masses of issues to start with which turned out to be a leak around the custom plates I made up so ideally I'd like to get rid.

Obviously the 16v is a drive-by-wire setup, which would be an absolute pain in the arse to set up, it doesn't even bare thinking about!

tl;dr

So what I'm ultimately asking is, does anyone know of a throttle body which would bolt straight onto the plenum chamber in place of 16v throttle body.

Many thanks
Tom

it'd be a full electronics swap from a 16v to get the 16v flyby to work on the 8v setup

Well done for getting it running though - not an easy task

I'd just reseal your adaptors tbh, and ensure your adaptors/plates work as best as they can

As i dont think any other fiat uses a throttle body like the 8v except all the other 8v's out there, which are pretty much the same :(

Hey, thanks for replying.

I was hoping somebody had a bit of hidden knowledge out there but wasn't the case!

I think what i'm going to end up doing is have a single plate 3d printed so it is exact, as opposed to "dril and hole here, cut a hole there, put some instant gasket here" etc.

I was hoping that there would be a 16v fiat which would use a throttle cable that would bolt straight on!

Have a look at the Brava range, as im sure they had 1.2 16v, not sure if its cable or flyby though

Legendary, this looks like it might fit. Will see if the seller will do a quick measurement for me
