Technical Gear stick off center...?

Hi,

Regardless of weather someone is wrong or right about what they say, there is no excuse for throwing cheap (and factually incorrect) insults around. You have been warned several times over the last few days and now you leave me with no choice but to ban you.

We all treat each other with respect here, after all the main aim of this forum is to HELP others and enhance the Fiat community! Those who do not play by those rules are not welcome.

*sigh*

Yet another person who doesn't know facts

And yet another reason why i wonder why i stay on here

Dont let it put you off ziggy! Those that matter appreciate the help you give people.

I will be deleting all the inflamatory comments in the coming hours.

Hi mate,

Chris gave him a time out ban (24 hrs). His first post back was to insult you so this time I have perma banned him.

How do I proceed? I pretty much know nothing about cars (fixing them, anyway), though I'm willing to learn.

The videos you've posted are quite handy, if I were you I'd open the bonnet and have a look at the linkages at the other end, on the petrol models they have an adjustable tab which may be where your problem lies

Ok this is my grande but things are very similar. (Had to use the grande because the diesel mk2 doesn't have these adjusters)

Look in this area hear between the engine and battery

You should see a pair of selector cables attached to the gearbox selector arms

On one of those cables you should see a little clip that looks something like this with the spring and button

You should be able to squeeze the button and move it in and out on the end of the cable.

This should centre the gear stick and allow you to get 5th and reverse properly

Looks like the right part it moves and then clicks into a number of pre-determined notches so you may need to move it 2-3cm to get it in next notch.

But you are on the right track, when you adjust it make you'll be able to see the gear stick moving from side to side in the cabin

That did the trick! Thanks so much! :)

The detent is now actually necessary to go into reverse and I can select 5th, plus the gear stick is actually centred!
