Hi all

So this evening I was driving around and heard a bang and then metal dragging. I stopped the car and realised my muffler had fallen off. I've taken it off the car completely and put it in my boot and driven home, which was the noisiest drive ever.

My question is, is it still safe to drive? I'm going to be getting it sorted very soon but I have to drive in the morning from Leeds to Keighley and back. Will it be safe to do so?

Thanks :)

NOT recommended, as it's not ideal for the engine,:(
as a temporary "fix" I've put a metal tube inside the 2 pieces of exhaust to join them back up,
you'd need cable ties to re-hang it too though.

i drove around for about 1 week / 2 weeks without a backbox :)
It sat in my boot for ages
The noise was fantastic, but caused hell on performance

it limited the car to about 80, as there was no backpressure to allow the car to breathe, not only that my parents said there sick of hearing it - go and get it fixed :(

Thanks guys. I've decided to cancel my plans now cos I don't wanna risk driving it...the noise drove me insane last night lol. Thankfully I have a spare punto that has a pretty much brand new front to back exhaust so going to replace it with that, once I can get my sister up to help lol.
Thanks again :)
