Does anyone know roughly how much a windscreen replacement is likely to cost. I am looking at a punto sporting to buy but the only downfall is there is a noticeable crack on the windscreen and I was wondering whether it was worth replacing or just buying another car all together.
Cheers

Depending on your age and insurance it will most likely be covered. So you could claim through insurance and someone like autoglass would repair

Lots of independent windscreen companies about these days, sometimes they can replace a windscreen for less than the cost of the insurance excess

Ring a couple of companies near you to get an idea.

I think (if I've got this right) the car he wants to buy has a crack on the windscreen. If this is the case, insurance does not cover damage which occurred before the policy was taken out.

depends on the price he is selling it for and if that is the only thing wrong with it

It's being sold for £400 and the only problems are a broken horn (which I can fix no problem) and the crack on the windscreen. I am currently trying to choose between this one and anther one from a car dealership that one isn't a sporting though but obviously both windscreen and horn are fine.

Call a handful of local companies (make sure they are based near you as a lot will pretend with fake office numbers).

It probably would fail the MOT but to be honest not to worried about that because I will be replacing it as soon as if I buy it and it has more than 6 months left on the MOT. Just don't want to be spending too much money fixing the car up straight away.

If it's a 1.4 sporting (mk2b) then it's definitely worth spending £400 on the car and at most I'd have thought £150 on a screen then you've got a car worth £800 minimum of anyone's money

It's a 1.2 16v sporting a really neat car, been well looked after it's just the crack that puts me off really

Be cautious of the rest of the car, it may look good, but could be a total rot-box.
Make sure you have a damn good poke around.
All that glistens etc etc.(y)

Good on yer mate ;)
It's the rust that kills the buggers, it is amazing how well they can look and be riddled with it !

Steerings not so bad and easy to fix really. Best of luck with it, could be a raving bargain. (y)
