Hi to all

Bought my first punto last week, enjoying the ride and my missus who drives a 206 prefers mine to hers :)

Just a couple of things I'm need doing but not sure what model my car is, I know its a 1.2 active 8v but not sure on the mk or if I'm being totally honest I don't even know what mk stands for! Its an 06 reg but not a grande, please can you advise which I have?

Once I have this info I'm going to look at installing a keyless entry system and seen a few guides on here, is it that simple to install?

Cheers

Neil

It is a mk2b, they were still available to buy alongside the grande when it came out although not many people did

The Punto beat all others of it's class hands down for nippiness and grin factor when we went looking for a car.
I would advise a six month or next MOT bedding in time to see what might come up replacement wise on the car before investing in keyless entry.
Generally something does, maybe at the MOT and avoiding upcoming expense is one of the main reasons people change in the first place.

Before fitting make sure you're insurance co are happy for you to do so, these aftermarket kits aren't exactly high quality, and you're insurance company might not cover you to fit anything that risks the security of the car

Hi all

I've put the central locking idea on the back burner for now, found a couple of other issues that need attending to.

1- build out error light comes on now and again when I press the break but no bulbs out, I also noticed that when indicators are on and I break they sometimes flash faster? I've looked up a few posted and it could be a bad earth? Is this easy enough for a novice to sort?

2- while driving in 2nd and 3rd gear I sometimes notice a judder, this happens without me pressing on the gas, any ideas where to start? I'm not going to lie, I have no idea about cars and only lasted my test last month so not up to scratch what's normal and what isn't but I'm guessing this isn't.

Thanks in advance

Neil

Not having much luck, also noticed this morning that the drivers side headlight didn't come on with the other then 10 seconds later popped on. Could this be connected with the brake pedal / indicator issue?

Cheers

Neil

The headlight isn't on the circuit for putting the warning light on, however the front side light bulb is, so if it's a bad connection to the whole light fitting then yes that could be where the fault is

Found another issue today (not a big issue), I had the heaters on this morning which are blowing heat out however number 3 on the dail has no response (turns it off) but number 4 blows on full. Any suggestions

does speed 1 and 2 work?

If 1 - 2 and 4 work, its looking like switch or possible wiring fault

Go into the passenger side - look at the fan - there should be a plug with 4 wires
Give that a wiggle and try speed 3 again
If it works - its probably early on set of failure of the plug due to overheating :(

This may help a lil to understand where i mean

well since it works on 1 - 2 - 4
it means fan's power and earth are okay

i suspect resistor pack plug failure (not the resistor pack itself)
or the switch (which is rare vs plugs melting tbh)

Try the firm wack approach
i hit the lower side of the passenger dashboard near the center console - if fan comes to life - its likely to be the plug on the resistor

If you wack the switch while on 3 - it comes to life, its more likely to be the switch
