A couple of days ago whilst on the way to work my window front wipers wouldn't turn off (apart from with the ignition off. By the time i'd finished work and returned to the car when I restarted they seemed fine.

Same thing happened today except that they won't stop at all now (apart from ignition off obviously). The stalk seems to work to a point, the speed will change to fast and will spray the jets and operate the rear wiper correct but in off and intermittent the wipers are continually operating. In between snow showers I removed the fuse but on each re-insert they were going again.

Having searched to no avail I can only assume this isn't an altogether common thing but if anyone has any suggestions of where to start I would be most grateful.

remove yours first before buying another, doesnt necessary mean its that to blame

A good blast of contact cleaner directed to the innards might help.
