hi people,
my name is aran im new to this site and also a new owner of a punto sporting mark 2 (2001) ,16v if im not mistaken -(please correct me if wrong there??). i only have it a week or so . its a gem, doors need bit of panel work but the real drawcard was the low mileage with only 40,000m on clock! The car was well looked after and duely missed.
HOWEVER here is my worry ,got mixed answers from various sources.... The timing belt was replaced 3000miles ago but 5 years ago. It was done at 37000miles. The car evidentally wasnt used much since then. Is it absolutely necessary to change the timing belt ? only3000miles on it but its5 years old?
i would much appreciate any advice available
cheers

tnx was thinking the same , better safe than sorry, cheers mate

Check the manual
They have a year and mileage limit

So your meant to go upto the first one ie a high mileage car will probably be worn due to wear vs age

ZIGGY
dont have one mate, frisko sorted me out. is there any way of knowing what condition its in without taking cover off? will i notice temp incease or rough idle, high fuel consumption or some other indicating factor b4 it blows up on me. i really want to look after it but just cant fork out the funds at the min
