It's a mk1 punto, went to go to work this morning and the clutch didn't feel right and I couldn't get in gear. Then a few mins later I tried again and now the pedal has gone really soft. Is this more than likely going to be the cable, or could it be something else?

Also will the AA be able to fix on my drive, or will it need to be towed?

Thanks.

hows many miles has it done and has it had a clutch before? If you can get someone to press the clutch whilst you have a look under the bonnet then you could probably see weather it was the cable bcoz it would pull or push on the actuating lever, i know that sometimes the pressure plates can shear from the clutch in them because mines done it once before and i have worked on a few others that have too

48k and i'm not sure if it has had a new one before. The neighbours just had a look, and an oily/greasy substance is leaking from (according to haynes) the clutch slave cylinder. :(

Slave cylinder is leaking causing the fluid to be lost and an airlock to occur. Bleed the clutch and you should get the clutch operating as normal until you have the time/money to change the slave cylinder.

Have a look at the slave cylinder, its right on top of the gearbox under the battery,. if its pissed you need a new slave cylinder, ther are around £45 **** easy to fit.

Arent the clutched hydrolic on the mk1 puntos?

If the cylinder's not urinated then it sounds as if it is a collapsed clutch pressure plate. Not so urinatingly easy to fix
