Hi All;

I have bought a new replacement key for my MK2B 1.9HGT multijet, and i am getting the blade cut at the weekend.
I have also bought a second hand keyfob so that I can take the alarm/remote locking circuit board from that key and transfer it to my new key.

Does anyone know how to sync up my new keyfob to lock + unlock the car remotely? Or will I need to have the security code for the car from fiat?

Thanks
Al

(As a sidenote I have found somewhere that will program my virgin ID48 transponder chip to work with the immobiliser and i am aware that this needs to be programmed in order to START the car)

To program the remote you can do yourself with multiecuscan and the appropriate cables but you will need the code card, but then so will fiat if you asked them to program it. And I'm not sure if you'd need a full licensed copy of ecu scan then cables etc

Programming the chip needs to be done though the cars ecu the computer puts the car in a programming mode and you put the keys in one buy one to program them to the car, this has the added advantage of removing any keys from the car that's are not present, so any lost keys become useless.

Anyone who claims to program a key by another method is simply cloning the key which may mean that in the future one of the keys will stop working as the hasn't been properly programmed

Thanks Andy, you have been very helpful! I've just downloaded a copy of multiecuscan 2.2 and I have an OBD2 Bluetooth adapter, reckon this will work? Or does the software only use cabled devices?

Thanks
Al

Depends which cable is needed I think it's KKL for body computer however you will still need that security code card from the dealer

From what is showing on Multiecuscan vehicle info for the Body computer, it looks like it might be ELM Or OBDKey that's required...

" Body Computer Delphi/Marelli |INFO|DTC|PRM|ACT|ADJ| ELM OBDKey
Body Computer Marelli MY03 |INFO|DTC| ELM OBDKey "

My bluetooth HH OBD ELM327 adapter sounds like it may fit the bill, but If it is a KKl cable I need then I have found on ebay a KKL cable with three adapters for various pinout changes (Link Below)

Sorry to be a pain and asking so many questions but do you think my adapter will be suitable or do need to get the KKL interface too?

And just to confirm is this for programming of the REMOTE LOCKING fob or is it for transponder/immobiliser programming?

Thanks Again!

EDIT:
I have just seen the following Info on the MultiECUscan website which is probably important! :

"Bluetooth, OBDKey, ELM 327 and OBDLink interfaces are fully supported but not recommended for special functions (likePROXI Alignment, remote control programming, IMA coding, etc.)! CANtieCAR is a professional multi-protocol interface with multiplexing capabilities."

Is this suggesting that I need a CANtieCAR interface?

I See, thanks ziggy! Do you know of any guides on how to use MultiECUscan to program remotes or will I need to play around and figure it out? (Will create a guide If i have to do it myself... IF i work it out!)

Will the ELM key still work even though it says they are "Not recommended for special functions including remote key programming"
or is that just a warning for those cheap chinese interfaces?

Thanks again

i cant answer as i dont know
I only use MES for airbag and EML clearing tbh....

But it may be known that certain ones may fail and cause more issues.....

For the cost - i'd be half tempted to just get the correct leads if possible :)

It's only the Bluetooth versions that are not recommended for Proxy Alignment and remote key programming. Wired ELM interfaces are OK.

Ideal thanks, I will get a wired interface then! Do you know if I need a registered version of MES?

Thanks again

Great, One final thing; Will my key have to have a working transponder chip to disable the immobiliser in order to program the keyFOB itself? Or can I do the remote locking programming without the transponder chip?

Thanks again
Al

Update:

I have managed to get my code pack from fiat, after calling several dealerships who quoted me £47 PLUS for just the codes, i managed to get them for £20 inc VAT from VOSPERS fiat dealership over email! (In case anyone else needs their code pack, this is the cheapest dealer I found!)

I've also ordered an ELM327 Cable to go interface with MultiECUscan and i've been playing with the simulation mode in the program so I "Touch wood" think i know what i'm doing now as far as remote control programming goes!

Will update again If i manage to get it working!

Regards;
Al

Finally Got the correct cable and was able to connect to the CAN module after fixing the dodgy ELM interface, BUT it seems that MES has no support for adustments on my body computer which was recognised as the Marelli MY03! It has all options available for Delphi Marelli but not the one I needed! Is there a way of getting around this or will I have to wait for an update of MES to see if functionality has been added?

Thanks
Al

100% sure you've selected the right year

A mk2b will be 1.9 03-

Ziggy

Yep, Definitely selected the correct car, just check MES compatible modules and the marelli MY03 isn't on there! :(

On every model that it has compatibility for the Marelli MY03 it only supports INFO + DTC...

I've tried programmming the fob using a Botch KTS tool which supports the function and the body computer but it says the key is already stored... Any ideas?
