took it to my m8 who`s a mechanic he bypassed the thermostat bled the system heater came on he told me run it for a couple of days see how it gets on done about 30 miles this morning short and motorway journeys heater still puffing away like a goodun check the water in a couple of hours but i think it will be ok next job MOT found a garage that dose it for £30 happy days thanks

Glad you got it sorted mate my thermostat went about 2weeks ago aswel. Listen for gurgling on start up thats your next job lol

when i checked it the next day there was no water in it so i went to 2 different mechanics one said use Kseal the other said no its the head gasket has gone so back to the drawingboard

top up with water, and when car is up to temp get on your knees and look underneath if you can spot any dripping, i dont know if bad headgasket will drink so much coolant over few days, wise elders here will know that for sure

if i start spending money where do i stop i took it to the mechanic he said head gasket so i got a price on skimming the head £40+ £110 labour mot is due this week taxt it last week just got back from the shop and the steering`s gone heavy tyres are ok at the end of the day i is 01 reg maybe time it went to boot hill rip

This stuff is being advertised a lot on tv lately,
http://www.steelseal.co.uk
It makes a lot of bold claims about being able to not only repair blown head gaskets but also cracked engine blocks and warped heads.

I'd be interested to know just how good it is and if it's worth it, I'd probably want to give it a try where all else has failed, God knows what's in it thought ?

itried the steel seal once.

the car was a Rover 25 k-series so..nowt to loose.:D

headgasket had gone..missing and spluttering.
after putting the steel seal in..the thing just locked up.:(

iended up stripping it down and fixing it properly.

its a 35quid gamble?

cheaper to buy a headgasket set. :D
